Our toast to you!

You helped make 2021 a memorable year. Sure, we are all still battling the pandemic but this year we are doing it together and what a difference that has made! Your support and caring touches the lives of the people we serve directly and we can't say thank you enough.

Your actions are noticed. One couple who receives our services spent a morning passing out candy canes to everyone in administration. With each delivery one of them would say, "We just want to thank you for all you do for us every day." Kindness inspires kindness.

So here is our toast to you for the new year:

May your kindness grow, may your light shine even brighter on those who need it, may your caring continue to embrace others, and may your benevolent spirit and generosity inspire others to share candy canes.

Happy New Year!

Play Prompts Rave Reviews

"The best concert/play I have ever seen!! It was wonderful!"
"It was so much fun!!!"
are just two of the reviews we received after 15 DakotAbilities actors presented North Pole's Got Talent on December 17. After weeks of rehearsals, and countless evenings running lines, the actors breezed through the performance like a cast of pros. The standing room only audience received an early Christmas present with this play in partnership with the Black Hills Playhouse. It was our 13th production and part of our Meaningful Day activities.

The Memories and Magic of Christmas

Every home and Longfellow Center were decked out for the holiday and the best decorations received prizes. We had an ugly sweater contest and decorated cookies to look like ugly sweaters. Everyone received gifts and (more importantly) everyone enjoyed the gift of giving. We had a very merry Christmas.

The Gift of Friendship

Amber only recently started to receive our day services. Jackie has been with us for two years. Amber likes to take walks around Longfellow Center but did not know her way around. Jackie, being the gentleman he is, stepped in one day and offered to go walking with her. By the second day they were holding hands and the walk is now part of their daily routine. Nothing is better than a good friend you can trust.

Did You Know...

  • The first ball drop in Times Square was in 1907
  • Auld Lang Syne was a poem by Robert Burns written in 1788 and set to a Scottish folk tune in 1799
  • Dick Clark's New York Rockin' Eve first aired in 1972 as a younger music alternative to Guy Lombardo's show

It's Never Too Late (or Too Soon) To Give a Gift
